What is the difference between a salesperson's license and a broker license?

A salesperson is the first step someone must take to enter the real estate profession. Salesperson's are prohibited from working independently, they are required to work for a broker for one year before attempting to become a broker. You must be a broker to open your own office and you must have one year of experience in the past 24 months to attempt to obtain a brokers license.

I previously had a license and let it lapse, what do I need to do to obtain a license?

You must have your previous license reinstated. In order to do this you need to complete a 12 hour continuing education and contact the real estate board to pay the appropriate reinstatement fee.

Do you offer weekend courses?

Yes, we have weekend courses each month.

What is your success rate?

Students who attend our academy consistently score well above the statewide average.

Can I retake the course for free if I fail the test?

You may retake the entire course or any section of the course to better prepare yourself for the examination. In fact, we will allow you to retake the course at no charge if you feel you need a fresher before you take the test.

Can I take the course on-line?

No, Massachusetts does not allow for on-line courses. It is a requirement that everyone attend a 24 hour program. Our program offers live interactive presentations geared to prepare you for the real estate examination.

How long is the sales course?

The sales course is 24 hours. We offer the course in an accelerated weekend version or an evening version which runs two nights a week for three weeks from 6:00pm-10:00pm

What is the cost of the license?

At this time the license cost $ 93.00 and is renewed every two years.

What is the cost of the course and are the materials included?

Currently, the cost of the course is $ 199.00 and that includes the text book and access to hundreds of same questions via a CD that we provide you to help you prepare for your examination.

Once I pass my test when do I receive my license?

You should be prepared to pay the licensing fee at the conclusion of your examination. You will receive your license once the fee is received.

What can I do with a salesperson license?

This license will allow you to sell, rent and lease both residential and commercial real estate for a fee. Remember a salesperson must be affiliated with a broker.

Where and when do I take the examination?

Once you complete the course you become certified to take the examination. You will receive a certification booklet that outlines the instructions to secure a test date. You will need to contact the testing center to schedule your appointment. Tests are offered in Boston, Woburn, North Dartmouth, Springfield and Worcester. The examination is offered several days a week (including Saturdays), twice a day at many locations.

What is the cost of the examination?

Currently, the cost is $ 107.00 to take the examination and $ 65.00 for subsequent examinations if needed.

How long do I have to complete the examination and what format is the test?

You have four hours to complete the examination. The exam is in a multiple-choice format that utilizes a computer scoring system to obtain your score. It is a very user- friendly system. You have two years from your course completion to pass the test.

Do I need any experience before I can obtain a license?

No, a person desiring to enter the profession does not need any prior work experience, nor do they need particular educational requirements prior to taking the course.

Do you offer job placement?

There is a pretest question that will ask if you are interested in future employment opportunities. If you check yes, you will receive mail offers from companies that are hiring.
